CELEBRITY CHEF

NUTRITION PROJECT

YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO BE HIRED AS A PERSONAL CHEF FOR A FAMOUS CELEBRITY!

Your celebrity insists that you prove your ability to prepare nutritious meals for them. Healthy

eating is a priority for them, and they are very particular about what food they eat!

TASK:

Prove your understanding of what makes food healthy and what kinds and amounts of foods your

celebrity should eat every day. You will accomplish this task by creating a sample menu that will

include a breakfast, lunch, and dinner for each day of the week. You must also include four

weekly snack options for your celebrity. Your menu will be annotated with important facts about

your meals and snacks.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.) Decide on a celebrity (singers, actors, athletes). Find the following information you them:

Name: ___________________________________

Age:________

Height: _____ft. _______in.

Weight: _______lbs.

Activity Level: ________________________

Print an 8.5 x 11 headshot of your celebrity.

2.) Using the “My Plate Checklist Calculator,” (from choosemyplate.gov) fill in the information

about your celebrity, and print out the “Food Pattern & Plan for Maintaining Current

Weight.” Using this plan as a guide, create a DRAFT of your menu. You may use the internet

to research information about various foods. REMEMBER: Your menu should contain amounts

of each food (cups, oz., tbsp, slice, etc.).

3.) After creating the DRAFT of your menu, annotate the meals to show nutritional tips and/or

facts. You should have a total of 10 tips/facts. You may use your notes on nutrients and the

internet to help you!

4.) Use the grading criteria to review your work. Once you know you have met all

requirements, begin creating your final menu, including annotations.

5.) Add graphics related to your menu to enhance its visual appearance.

6.) Review grading form and make any necessary additions or changes.
