Art Class Welcome Letter
Dear Students, Parents, Guardians, and Families,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!
My name is Amy Henderson and I will be your child’s Art Teacher. I am really excited to have your child in my class this year. For those returning students, I look forward to another outstanding year.
I graduated from Holy Family University with a Major in Art Therapy, and later received my Masters degree in Education. This is my seventh year as a teacher, and I look forward to a successful and productive school year. Throughout the year, we will be learning much about art, the materials, history, appreciation, the elements of art, and the principles of design. I am planning activities to develop the creative skills and interests of students, as well as trips throughout the year. I hope to make this academic year educational and fun-filled for the students. The year will culminate in an Art Show to present the amazing work the students complete. I hope all of you will be able to join us in celebrating the hard work and talent of your children.
Art Class Information/Requirements:
Pencil & Eraser – required for every class.
Sketch Book/Art Journal – each student may bring a sketch book or art journal: the best I have found is at Wal-Mart ($3.84), Target, Deals, craft stores, and many other stores carry them, as well. Copybooks are acceptable.
Old Shirt/Art Apron – in order to protect the uniform, you may want to send your child with and old shirt or apron: students may store these in the art classroom.
Homework – will be assigned every week, each student is required to write the homework assignment in the school agenda book.
Class work – a class work grade is given every class, and includes participation and effort.
Projects – are done in class, unless otherwise announced.
Tests/Quizzes – will be announced and included in the homework section of the School Agenda book, as well as included on the teacher website.
Please refer to my teacher website for information on projects, homework, and to keep updated on the happenings in art class. If you would like to discuss your child’s performance or any other aspects of art class, feel free to contact me to schedule a meeting.
