Welcome to my online classroom. If you are looking for opportunities to practice what we have learned in the classroom, visit some of the sites in the educational website section. Students can use these websites and also khanacademy to practice the math concepts. Students recieve one or two homework assignments a week to complete at home and return to school.

WHAT ARE WE LEARNING???

September/October - We will learn to add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers (positive/negative numbers and zero) Click on Education Practice Websites to find videos and notes on this topic.

October/November- We will continue to work on integer operations. We will also be adding on to our knowledge of positive and negative numbers by applying rules of integers to decimals and fractions. In November, we will begin learning about unit rates and proportions. Click on Education Practice Websites to find videos and notes on this topic.

November/December – We will learn to find the percent of an number and apply tht to tax, tip, discount, commission, and simple interest. Students will also learn to find the percent increase or decrease of two numbers.

January- We will learn to solve one and two step equations and inequalities.

February – We will finish up our equations and expressions unit ( solving one and two step equations, simplifying expressions by combining like terms and distributing, solving and graphing one and two step inequalities). We will begin our geometry units. Students will learn angle relationships (supplementary, complemetary, adjacent, vertical, alternate interior, alternate exterior and corresponding), area of polygons, surface area of prisms, and volume of prisms.

March – We will be learning how to find the probabilty of chance events. Students will be predicting or determining whether some outcomes are certain, more likely, less likely, equally likely, or impossible. Students will also be using probability to predict the approximate freqency of events. We will begin lerning how to analyze data using measures of center (mean, median, mode) and graphs.

***April – During this month we will be taking the PSSAs. During this time we will be reviewing all 7th grade math standards. All concepts that are mentioned above will be tested on the PSSAs. Check out all of the standards and assessment anchors on the standards page. After PSSAs are over we will begin a data and statistics project. To find more information about the project, click on the projects tab.

May – During this month we will review opertions with fractions and decimals. We will continue to work on our data and statistics project. Towards the end of the month we will work on a dream house project that will test area, perimeter, volume, and surface area concepts.  To find more information about the project, click on the projects tab.

June – During this month we will review algebraic concepts such as solving equations, and inequalities, and simplifying expressions. Students will be working on substituting variables to evaluate expressions. During this month we will be working on a game board project. To find more information on the project, click on the projects tab.
